Jean Sheikh, co-owner of Executive Worldwide Travel has been involved in organizing and leading group travel throughout her entire travel career beginning in 1968.

She began concentrating on group travel in 1976 and has personally escorted more than 150 groups to destinations all over the world, much of the time accompanied by Zak Sheikh, President of Executive Worldwide Travel. They began offering group travel and specialized Cultural Tours when they moved to the Ottawa marketplace in 1976.

At one time specializing in China, Russia and the Orient, Jean and Zak have taken groups to such diverse destinations as Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Australia, New Zealand, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, Turkey, Greece and Israel, to name only a few.

Jean's own "Let's Explore Newfoundland Tour," now in its 11th year, is always very popular and the annual "New York Holiday Lights Tour" is almost always a sell-out.

Not all of the groups Jean has escorted were travellers in search of art, music, history and culture. Together Jean and Zak organized travel for and escorted some 32 groups of athletes competing in both Commonwealth and Paralympic Games over the years, as well as groups involved in incentive and educational travel.

With that kind of experience under her seat belt, it is no wonder Jean is able to arrange such fascinating, enjoyable tours for her special clients.

Organization is number one on her list of what makes a good tour, followed by what she calls the "right balance" of touring and leisure time. Knowledgeable guides also make a huge difference to a tour, she said.

Variety too is very important - making sure the same food is not repeated at different hotels, arranging guided tours in out-of-the-way places her clients have not already visited and finding the freshest and best of the entertainment options in every location.

A seasoned traveller herself, Jean likes to book her people into smaller hotels with character while still ensuring the top notch service and excellent food her clients have come to expect.
