September 13 – Depart Ottawa for Rome via Montreal on Air Canada. Dinner
and breakfast served onboard. September 14 – Arrive at Rome Airport and transfer to Palermo via Air One. Afternoon at leisure. Welcome Dinner and overnight Hotel Vecchio Borgo in Palmermo. D September 15 – Breakfast at hotel followed by a morning tour of the Sicilian capital of Palmero, a city of almost three millennia of history, beautiful palaces and churches, colourful markets, marvelous food and a distinctive cultural identity and Monreale, world-renowned for its cathedral, a dazzling mixture of Arab, Byzantine and Norman artistic styles framed by traditional Romanesque architecture. September 16 – After breakfast departure toward Agrigento with stops in Segesta to visit its magnificent Doric Temple and ancient Greek theatre, Erice, a picturesque Medieval hill town built by ancient Greeks and Selinunte, all among the most important archaeological sites in Italy. September 17 –After breakfast, depart for Acireale. Private guided tour of the Valley of Temples, with its beautiful ancient Greek temples. After lunch and tasting at Feudo Principi di Butera, visit Piazza Armerina and Villa del Casale, site of the richest, largest and most complex collection of late Roman mosaics in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. September 18 – Full day in Acireale with a visit to the wonderful
hilltop Greco-Roman theatre in Taormina, still used today. Free time for lunch before

September 19 – After breakfast, a full day excursion to Siracusa.
Visit the Greek theatre, larger than the theatres at both Delphi and Athens and
still in use today. See the Ear of Dionysius, the S-shaped entrance to a cave with
amazing acoustic properties and visit the Baroque treasures of the island of Ortigia,

September 20 – After breakfast, transfer to Catania for a flight to
Venice, arriving about 11 a.m. Lunch on your own followed by a guided walking tour
of Venice with visits to Piazza San Marco, St. Mark Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and

This afternoon, a visit to Tedeschi for Amarone tasting. Amarone della Valpolicella
is the only mainstream style where the wines are fermented to dryness, yielding deeply
