	FEBRUARY 4 Depart Ottawa at 7:30 a.m. from the National Arts Centre in front of the Box Office. Coffee and muffins will be served prior to departure. Our deluxe private motorcoach will take us to New York and will be with us throughout our stay. Enjoy video and music programs during the drive. Champagne Luncheon prepared by the National Arts Centre Restaurant will be served enroute. Arrive at approximately 4:00 p.m. at the splendid Sheraton New York Hotel, located on 7th Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Streets close to Central Park and Times Square in the center of Manhattan's Midtown business and entertainment district. We are just a few steps from the excitement of Broadway, theatres, prestigious Carnegie Hall, famous up-town eateries and the world-class shopping of Fifth Avenue. Evening at Leisure Optional Entertainment Choices Our first evening in NYC will be free for your optional entertainment choices before a busy program of sightseeing and performances. 	Evening performance of “Carmen” at the Metropolitan Opera, with Olga Borodina in the sultry title role. Known for her "plush" voice, Olga Borodina is a leading dramatic mezzo-soprano, celebrated for her roles in Russian operas at her home company, the Mariinsky Theatre, and for her international performing and recording career in a varied repertoire. Overnight at hotel.	FEBRUARY 5 Depart hotel with our own New York guide for a fascinating look at the cutting-edge “green” architecture of New York City. We will visit the new Hearst Tower designed by Sir Norman Foster, the city’s first gold LEED green certified building, as well as the Gramercy Hotel, built in 1925 and recently redone stunningly by famed hotelier Ian Schrager. This legendary hotel, bordering charming Gramercy Park, also exhibits 20th century masterpieces by artists Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Damien Hirst, Richard Prince, and Julian Schnabel, which we will have an o pportunity to view. Lunch in the private Sculpture Court at the National Arts Club, founded in 1898 by Charles de Kay, to "stimulate, foster, and promote public interest in the arts and to educate the American people in the fine arts."
	FEBRUARY 6 – Full Day at Leisure Great museums and galleries! The list of New York museums is endless. Morning motorcoach transportation to the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, the Guggenheim and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Evening performance in the prestigious Isaac Stern Auditorium of Carnegie Hall featuring Angela Hewitt with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra performing “Concerto for Piano and Strings in D minor,” BWV 1052 by Bach. The program will also include Concerto in D Major for String Orchestra “Basel Concerto;” by Stravinsky; Serenade for Strings in E major, by Dvorak, and New Brandenburg, a newly-commissioned work for the Orpheus Orchestra by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, based on Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5. Canadian Angela Hewitt, hailed as the “pre-eminent Bach pianist of our time” and “nothing less than the pianist who will define Bach performance on the piano for years to come,” was named Gramophone Artist of the Year in 2006. She was awarded the first ever BBC Radio 3 Listener’s Award (Royal Philharmonic Society Awards) in 2003. She was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2000, and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. She was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2006. Overnight at hotel. FEBRUARY 7 Morning free to stroll along the Avenues or to do some New York City shopping. Depart the hotel for Ottawa at 1:30 PM. A supper stop will be made enroute. Arrive in Ottawa at the National Arts Centre at about 10:30 p.m.
